Ibiza

I am writing this entry on a plane to New York. I don’t know why I am always updating my blog on a plane, while flying or connecting somewhere, but something about the boredom and monotony of flying that is conducive to writing. I bet if more starving writers in Hollywood would have the money to fly and travel, we would have better scripts, and movies being produced. Maybe the unions should have writers block flights for a special price without a destination, but I digress.  My memory is already vague of the entire trip and so many things have happened that I can’t recall or haven’t documented. There is a theory out there that if you can’t remember something then it never really happened. Based on that theory I am vindicated from many mistakes, and there are many people out there with empty claims of past transgressions.

Let me try to highlight some points about Ibiza that made that stop the highlight and best part of the trip and the ultimate finale to our journey.

We stayed at the most exclusive hotel, with the party being right at the pool with a bird’s eye view from our balcony, seeing David Guetta , Swedish House Mafia, Radio one party and so much more. Picking up girls is as easy as inviting them up to your room for a drink from a ten dollar bottle of vodka as opposed to paying twenty Euros per drink. We were given a red bracelet that gave us free access in and out and basically announced to the world that we were special and we were VIP.  In a class society we were definitely in the upper class in Ibiza, ironically we had no class. Watching everyone wait for hours to get in, and fight their way around just to catch a glimpse, or try to get into the VIP, or constantly trying to get one level more access than they already had, I couldn’t help feeling privileged , a bit better than everyone else. It’s a bittersweet feeling that I get every time I fly first class, or enjoy a privilege others don’t get to enjoy, for deep down I know that I don’t really deserve it, although I guess appreciating it, is something it still gives me a feeling of accumulating an unknown debt to the universe that just accrues somewhere, waiting to be collected on. In the meantime I took as much advantage as I could of being on the Universe’s balance sheet; after all you need to find the right balance between enjoying life as a gift, and treating it as a responsibility.

Back to the notable points of interest;

Martina was a notable character, a Serbian top model we picked up on the beach, that spoke six languages, and managed to utilize her language skills in a nonstop barrage of complete insanity. She had so many stories and spoke so much that being around her was like getting a glimpse into a world of insanity. What we could gather was, is that she knew everyone on the island, she was robbed and everything was taken from her, she does drugs nonstop and has been partying straight for four weeks and is avoiding a come down, by coming and going from one group to another, one room to the next, being the life of the party and bringing an energy force with her, that you couldn’t help being amused, sympathetic, annoyed, and turned on all at the same time. She was making out with all the girls and was as loose as she was funny and smart; we enjoyed having her around even though she was completely insane.

I met these two young good looking Italians that were staying in the hotel that were running around for five days trying to pick up any and every girl and were doing quite well for themselves. When I asked them how they were enjoying themselves, they explained to me in typical Italian fashion with their hands gesturing in a pleading manner they use to state facts and said in their broken English that “ They come to Ibiza just to fOck”. And that they lovvve poosy”.

My friends girl that he flew in from Denmark, was a complete basket case and dealing with her in the room was like having a constant reminder of why I was single. A few of the experiences with the woman of the trip ended in me being direct, or saying something that got  someone mad, and my friend was wondering why I couldn’t just act differently or not say anything and I finally realized where my anger or resentment came from and why I was so easily in attack mode. I simply hate being controlled and don’t give woman or anyone for that matter, the power over me to force me to create an alternate more likable identity, as if who I am is not good enough and I must censor myself to fit their idea of what’s attractive. Anyone can get a girl by lying, acting, giving fake compliments, giving them attention, and acting like anything they think would get them laid. If you can’t get a girl to like you for being you, then you need to find a new you that can. Returning armed with that knowledge itself, made this trip worthwhile.

The Interview.

Most of you randomly flip through the photos, ignore the articles, and ignore the videos. I mostly write as a journal, but then there are a few: the ones without ADD, the few that appreciate my humor, the few that really enjoy my writing, and the ones that are really interested in my life (which basically consists of two friends, my future self, my future wife, and Avi) who actually read and watch everything.  I want to write about the story that this girl told us that is so unbelievable that we had to get her in film and record it.  Since this interview is on the clip above (it’s at 10.10 minutes into the second Spain video) for the five people mentioned above this might be redundant for the rest of you, it won’t really matter, for you will neither see the clip, nor will you read it here.

We met these girls at the airport from Australia and they seemed flustered. We started chatting with them and they mentioned that they cut their trip short and are heading home early due to the following; they went with some fifteen to twenty people on a party boat which goes from island to island. They were left alone on some island by the driver and were told they would be picked up soon.  I am unclear of whether this is part of the standard schedule of this party boat, or this was a circumstance that caused them to be there alone. A short time later, one of the younger males in the group started convulsing and essentially overdosing from the many drugs that he did. At first they looked at him and thought he was playing around with them and just ignored his antics as some sort of a joke, but it started becoming serious to everyone that he was in trouble. Left on their own with no phones, nobody trained in any sort of first aid, they all watched helplessly in horror as this kid slowly died in front of them. When the boat finally came back; in accordance with the chaotic dangerous, unruly , and mafia controlled Ibiza, they refused to care, call anyone, report it, or get involved, with what was now essentially a group with a dead body, in a funeral precession boat. The most amazing party of the story was when they came back on the boat with the body, they asked the boat operators to turn off the music at least to respect the somberness of what just happened, and they refused.  Apparently , nothing can stop the party in Ibiza even death!
