We spent 2 days in Hoi An then drove to Hue. Nothing much to report. The last few days have been very relaxing and uneventful. Hoi An is an old town on the river with lots of history. It was occupied by the French, Chinese, and Japanese, it’s a port town that floods every year. The rain waters reach around five feet and every house gets flooded. This hasn’t done anything to the real estate, since this is the most expensive area in Vietnam. Homes go for upwards of one million dollars, which for Vietnamese standards is high. We took bike rides around the old town. The highlight of this town is the tailors and shoe shops. It’s a shopper’s paradise with over 300 tailors, making custom clothing within a day. Any style, quality, type or look you want can be duplicated and created exclusively for your body and shape. I made myself the most amazing tux, shoes, shirt, vest, and bow tie for the wedding in Sydney. I looked really “smart” and felt really good. I made myself a few pairs of flip flops for fifteen dollars each, and finally had shoes to accommodate my different sized feet. The girls were making dresses copied directly from expensive designers, it was great fun. We were nearing the end of the trip and you can tell the group was getting a bit worn out. Everyone was quieter; the energy has definitely toned down a notch. The next city is our last stop and an overnight boat ride as the climax to the trip. Everyone’s going home, while I have another few countries and over a month of this craziness.  I was looking forward to my five days in Sydney in a nice hotel with nothing to do, but I know the wedding and all the crazy Aussies I have in Sydney is going to drive a wedge in my plans of doing nothing.
